Charles Ives Scholarship
Ryan was awarded a Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts & Letters. Harmony Ives, the widow of Charles Ives, bequeathed to the Academy the royalties of Charles Ives’s music, which has enabled the Academy to give awards in composition since 1970.
New York Youth Symphony First Music Commission
As Grand Prize Winner of the New York Youth Symphony's First Music program, Ryan has been commissioned by the New York Youth Symphony in partnership with the Interlochen Center for the Arts to write a new piece for orchestra, which will be premiered in Carnegie Hall in May 2019 and subsequently performed at Interlochen in July 2019.

Ryan's orchestra piece Like An Altar With Nine Thousand Robot Attendants has been selected for the American Composers Orchestra's 27th annual Underwood New Music Readings in New York, NY.
ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell Prize Special Distinction

Ryan has been selected as Salutatorian for the University of Southern California Graduating Class of 2016. This honor is awarded based on GPA, challenge of academic workload, résumé, an essay, and an interview with a faculty panel. Mizzou International Composers Festival

Ryan will be one of eight resident composers this summer at the Mizzou International Composers Festival. During the festival, the resident composers will receive composition lessons from distinguished guest composers Oscar Bettison and Erin Gee and receive a premiere performance of a new work created specifically for the MICF and Alarm Will Sound.

Ryan has been selected to participate in the National Band Association Young Composer Mentor Project. As a result, Joseph Higgins and "The President's Own" United States Marine Band perform the premiere of Spinning Yarns on June 16, 2015 in the John Philip Sousa Band Hall in Washington, DC. In addition, Ryan will participate in lessons and masterclasses with faculty composers Dana Wilson, Mark Camphouse, and Ryan Nowlin.
